The perfect juice shot to for healthy blood pressure and athletic endurance
Beets are a veggie that not everyone likes as a juice. Some people really like it, and some people really don’t. I hear that they ‘taste like dirt’ or they ‘cant get it down’. I totally get that, it’s not everyones jam.
One thing you can’t deny is beet juices’ powerful nutritional benefits. They are high in a natural chemical called nitrates. Your body turns it into nitric oxide, which helps blood flow and blood pressure. A lot of athletes like it for that reason, and I enjoy having a shot before my workouts.
Since they are potent and sweet, a shot is the perfect amount for me. Sometimes a large quantity of beet juice doesn’t sit well in my stomach, but a shot is always very digestible for me.
Beet Juice Shot Recipes
Beets are a strong juice, so if you prefer to make them milder, adding coconut water to your shot recipe is a great way to make them more palatable.
Option 1 BEET & COCONUT JUICE SHOTS
INGREDIENTS
- 1/2-1 cup coconut water
- 2 red beets
Option 2Â BEET & LEMON JUICE SHOTS
Option 3Â BEET & GINGER JUICE SHOTS
- 3 red beets
- 2 inch knob fresh ginger root
DIRECTIONS
Juice the produce together, and add them to your shot bottles. If using coconut water to make the shot milder, add half of the juice to the jars and add the coconut water on top. Save in the fridge or freeze for later use.
BENEFITS: Because beets have nitrites and your body turns it into nitric oxide, they are excellent for regulating blood pressure. They increase blood flow, so they also are good for runners, power lifters or any type of athletic endurance. Â
